Every bean has a storyâours begin at elevation. At Sky Roasted Coffee, we source premium specialty-grade coffee beans grown with care at high altitudes, often from smallholder farms rooted in generations of tradition. Our beans are selected not only for their flavor but for the land, climate, and people who cultivate them.
â What Makes Coffee “Specialty”?
Specialty coffee is the top tier of coffee qualityâgraded 80+ cupping score by licensed Q graders and sourced from farms with traceable, sustainable practices. It’s more than just a label; itâs a commitment to flavor, origin, and ethical farming.
â Arabica vs. Robusta: Know Your Beans!
Not all coffee is created equal. At Sky Roasted Coffee, we currently focus on 100% Arabica beansâsought after for their flavor, complexity, and high-altitude pedigree. But what sets Arabica apart from Robusta? However, we might experiment with specialty Robusta beans in the future.
đ± Arabica: Elegant & Elevated
-
Flavor Profile: Smooth, nuanced, and naturally sweetâwith notes of fruit, florals, and chocolate.
-
Caffeine Content: Lower in caffeine, making for a gentler, more refined cup.
-
Growing Conditions: Thrives at high altitudes with cool, stable climates, requiring careful cultivation.
-
Cost & Craft: More labor-intensive to grow, making Arabica more premium and sought-after.
đȘ Robusta: Bold & Bitter
-
Flavor Profile: Strong, earthy, often bitter, with a heavier body and nutty undertones.
-
Caffeine Content: Packs nearly twice the caffeine of Arabica, contributing to its sharper edge.
-
Growing Conditions: Grows at lower altitudes, in hotter climates, and is more resilient to pests.
-
Cost & Accessibility: Easier to grow and harvest, typically used in instant coffee or mass-market blends.
Why It Matters:
The difference isnât just in tasteâitâs in the experience. Arabica delivers the clean, complex, and aromatic cup specialty coffee lovers crave. Thatâs why current Sky Roasted batches start with hand-selected Arabica beans, Air-Roasted to highlight their natural brilliance.
đż Grown with Purpose
Location & Elevation:  Our beans are grown at elevations between 1,200 to 2,200 meters above sea level, where cooler temperatures slow the coffee cherryâs growth, concentrating sugars and complex flavor compounds. These high-grown beans develop remarkable sweetness, acidity, and clarity in the cup.
Soil Types: Â Volcanic, loamy, and mineral-rich soils form the foundation for our coffeeâs depth. Each region imparts its own terroirâlike wine, the soil, rainfall, and elevation shape every note in the final brew.
Shade-Grown & Biodiverse:  We prioritize shade-grown coffees from farms using biodiverse canopies. Shade-grown practices preserve forest habitat, protect bird populations, and naturally slow the maturation of coffee cherries, allowing deeper flavor development.
đ€ Smallholder Farms, Big Impact
Our beans are harvested by hand on small farmsâoften less than 5 acresâwhere attention to detail is everything. These farmers focus on quality over quantity, and many belong to cooperative unions that protect pricing, reinvest in local education, and promote organic and regenerative practices. We are not buying from mass production farms.
đŹ Processing Methods
Each bean’s flavor begins at the farm:
-
Washed (Wet) Process â Bright, clean, and fruity.
-
Natural (Dry) Process â Sweet, bold, and full-bodied.
-
Honey Process â A balanced hybrid with rich sweetness and gentle acidity.
We partner with producers who innovate and perfect their post-harvest techniques, ensuring consistent and standout flavors in every roast.
âïž Grind Types
To ensure peak freshness, we recommend whole bean. But we offer custom grind options to fit your brew method:
-

-
Coarse â French press, cold brew.
-
Medium â Drip machines, pour-over.
